Lake Michigan Academy is a small private day school designed for students K-12 with learning differences and ADHD. Established in 1985, Lake Michigan Academy is the only private school of its kind in Western
Michigan specializing in reading remediation using the Orton Gillingham approach, and multisensory instruction in academic areas. Lake Michigan Academy addresses the needs of the whole child including social and emotional growth, career preparation, and readiness for life.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead LMA to new heights. The CEO will drive donor development, provide strategic leadership, and ensure an effective learning environment in line with our mission. This individual will work closely with the board of directors, staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders to drive our organization's mission forward.
They will have a passion to transform the lives of children with learning differences.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fundraising and Resource Development: Lead fundraising efforts, diversify revenue streams, and cultivate strong relationships with donors, partners, and grant-making organizations.
2. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a forward-thinking strategic vision for the organization that aligns with our mission and values.
3. Operational Excellence: Oversee day-to-day operations, manage budgets, and ensure the efficient use of resources to maximize impact.
4. Board Engagement: Collaborate with the board of directors to provide regular updates, leverage their expertise, and engage them in strategic decision-making.
5. Program Development: Drive the development and enhancement of programs and services to meet the evolving needs of our student talent pool.
6. Advocacy and Public Relations: Represent the organization to the public, media, and key stakeholders, advocating for our mission and building our reputation.
7. Team Leadership: Recruit, inspire, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
8. Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, as well as the highest standards of ethical conduct.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in nonprofit leadership, including a track record of successful fundraising and strategic planning.
Strong understanding of the Education sector and a passion for our transforming children lives with learning differences.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets effectively.
Visionary leadership with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
Experience working with a board of directors and engaging volunteers.
Education requirements: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or related field preferred.
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
