Founded in 1966 and headquartered in Lacey, Washington, Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston Counties (CACLMT) has supported low-income communities in Lewis, Mason, and Thurston, counties empowering individuals and families, fostering self-sufficiency, and improving lives for the last 57 years. CACLMT provides essential programs, mirroring those offered by Community Action Agencies nationwide, such as Family Support, Victim Services, Economic Security, Weatherization, and Housing. Our organization serves as an incubator for vital programs, nurturing their growth to meet the ever-changing needs of our dynamic region. Throughout our history we have developed programs that address critical needs within our community supporting attainment of healthy, safe, and sustainable housing, access to low-barrier one-on-one care, and utility assistance.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) currently leads a team of 62 skilled professionals. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is fully responsible for the strategic and day-to-day program and financial operations of CACLMT under the policy guidance of the Board of Directors. The CEO is the face of CACLMT in the community and will be the key internal leader of the organization, building strong relationships with community, government, and business stakeholders across multiple counties, the state, and nationwide. CACLMT’s 2023 budget is $12+ million.
This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary, compassionate, and highly ethical leader to deliver on the mission of the agency and move us forward as we co-create our overarching vision for how we show up for the communities we serve. In this role, the CEO will partner with a dedicated Board of Directors who are committed to the ongoing success of CACLMT and to ensure it remains a viable, strong, and valuable community resource for generations to come.
In this role, you will leverage your passion and commitment to serving and advocating for some of our most vulnerable communities, providing vital services and programs that meaningfully contribute to the lives and wellbeing of individuals and families. You will communicate the vision and strategic plans to excite and enlist the staff and Board, partners, donors, and supporters. You champion Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) in our organization to continually aspire to higher equity and anti-racist practices in how we work. You will bring your experience with Board recruitment and development to help us shape the future. And you engender respect, trust, and commitment by building bridges across differences in culture, background, and beliefs.
The ideal candidate will be a confident, innovative, compassionate individual who leads in a collaborative and inclusive manner. This goal-oriented leader will embrace and implement CACLMT’s mission throughout all duties performed. The qualified candidate will serve as the leader of the management team and staff helping to evaluate and prioritize projects and opportunities. They will be a savvy leader who can navigate and communicate calmly advocating for the agency and mission in a dynamic, evolving environment.
CACLMT is seeking candidates with:
- Bachelor’s Degree involving major study that may include social work, nonprofit management, social justice, public administration, business administration, or operations; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership and executive experience with strategic and financial oversight leading an organization. Previous held a role as a CEO or Executive Director is a plus.
- Experience working in Social Services, Social Justice, or other non-profit organizations; Nonprofit management experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and/or direct experience in one or more of the following program areas: Housing, Weatherization, Energy, Victim Services.
- Lived or connected experience working with racially or culturally diverse communities.
- Deep knowledge and demonstrated support and implementation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging and anti-racist practices.
- Experience managing budgets of $3 million+
- Ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth.
- Proficiency in fundraising, donor relations, and capital campaign oversight.
- Knowledge in grant writing, block grants, and grant management.
- Experience working with city, county and state officials, and community groups.
- Experience working in the Community Action network and familiarity with Community Action Funding preferred.
- Knowledge of Lewis, Mason and/or Thurston Counties and surrounding regions is a plus.
This is a full-time contract position with a salary range of $145,000-$175,000 DOE and a generous benefits package. It is an on-site position in Lacey, WA, with remote work available. Apply for this exciting opportunity online. We look forward to hearing from you!
