Primary Responsibility

The COO is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of USA Pulses.

Primary Objectives

1.Collaborate with CEO and Vice President’s (VPs) in setting and driving organizational vision, operations strategy, and growth.

2. Translate strategy into actionable steps for implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.

3. Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and strategic goals are met.

4. Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention.

5. Ensure compliance with all national, local and grant regulations.

Specific responsibilities

1. Implement strategies and workplans that align with the short- and long-term objectives of the organization in tandem with the CEO & VPs.

2. Analyze internal operations and identify areas to enhance efficiency.

3. Oversee operations, budgeting, accounting, HR, and partner with CEO and VPs in fund raising to ensure sufficient resources are available to achieve strategic program targets.

4. Implement a method to monitor performance and prepare detailed updates and forecasts to ensure strategic goals are met.

5. Build and maintain trusting relationships with board members, stakeholders, key customers, researchers, policy makers, and partners.

6. Travel as necessary to achieve organization goals in accordance with USDA and industry travel guidelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: BS/BA or MS/MA
  • Experience in non-profit executive leadership, grant management and fund raising.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a commitment to fairness and personal integrity
  • Solid grasp of data analysis, performance metrics, workplan development and budget management
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Preferred skills

  • Experience in agricultural non-profit board management
  • International and domestic marketing experience
  • Ag research and policy development experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1.00 - $1.50 per year
