Chief Executive Officer

The Hope Center, Inc. is a well-respected and leading recovery organization in Lexington, Kentucky-the second largest city-that cares for the homeless and at-risk persons by providing life-sustaining and life-rebuilding services that are comprehensive and address underlying addiction causes.

The Chief Executive Officer is the chief administrator of Hope Center, Inc. and One Parent Scholar House, providing leadership and implementing policies and programs to carry out the work of the organizations. Key duties of the position will include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach, and management of the organizations. Most importantly, the CEO has a passion for helping individuals who seek the aid and support of the Hope Center, Inc. and One Parent Scholar House. This includes people who are homeless, who are addicted, who need employment, who seek better lives for their families through education, and more.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Leadership/Organization Operations

  • Manages and develops staff to maximize the potential of all staff members and sets high quality performance standards.
  • Provides direct supervision and support to the management team on department responsibilities and goals, including hiring, retention, program development and the organizations’ operations and procedures.
  • Collaborates with and supports the COO to ensure a strong operational infrastructure that runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Serves as a public representative of the organization to the media and the public, as required.
  • Implements performance standards and conducts performance reviews for senior leadership.
  • Supports and directs public relations activities to build and maintain relationships with other organizations and the public.

2. Financial Performance and Fundraising

  • Develops effective financial administration policies and procedures, including oversight of the annual budget, to protect the organizations financial integrity.
  • Works in conjunction with the CFO to prepare budgets, track and report revenue and expenses.
  • Identifies and cultivates key relationships in the private and public sectors to broaden levels of giving and develop the fundraising base, with an emphasis on fundraising opportunities with major donors.

3. Board Governance

  • Reports to the Board of Directors, maintaining open communication and disclosure of the conditions, operations and needs of the organization.
  • Drafts, presents and recommends organizational policies and programs to the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborates regularly and consistently with the Board Chair, ensuring the Board Chair is aware of, and given the opportunity to weigh in on, all material developments.

4. Organization Mission & Strategy

  • Provides strategic and operational leadership by leading the development and implementation of strategic plans for the organization.
  • Provides leadership for identifying public policy direction and initiatives related to homelessness, addiction, mental health and other outreach services.
  • Cultivates relationships with and support from leaders and elected officials in local and state governments as well as federal agencies, including the Mayor’s office, Urban County Council, Kentucky Housing Corporation, Kentucky Department of Corrections and others.

This position must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, ethical practice, relationship management, critical evaluation, proficient computer skills, and the ability to work with persons in a way that shows sensitivity to cultural diversity, sexual orientation, and racial/ethnic differences. The CEO is expected to work collaboratively with his or her direct reports and to model servant leadership.

The required education and experience for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience, or other experience deemed by Hope Center to reflect equivalent skills and capabilities.

This is a full-time, exempt position and may require evening and weekend hours, as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
