Summary:
 
As part of a mission centric, locally delivered and nationally powered organization, the Manager, Prospect Development for Advancement will drive the proactive identification, research, and prioritization of potential new prospects for LLS, with a strong focus on Principal Gifts. This role involves the execution of prospecting projects, the creation of detailed research profiles, and the utilization of advanced prospect research tools. The manager will serve as a liaison with key stakeholders, collaborate with various departments, and contribute to the continuous improvement of prospect development processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize screenings and affinity scoring, to proactively discover, research, and prioritize potential new prospects for LLS.
  • Regularly execute prospecting projects to identify, research, and distribute qualified leads to help build and sustain a strong pipeline of prospects and donors with a focus on Principal Gifts.
  • Serve as a liaison with key stakeholders for special prospecting initiatives as they arise to develop scope of project and track parameters for desired prospects.
  • Respond to all requests from fundraisers in a timely manner, adhering to deadlines and maintaining positive, productive relationships.
  • Create succinct, in-depth, fundraiser-centric research profiles that will assist fundraisers in determining appropriate cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Utilize prospect research tools such as LexisNexis, DonorSearch, iWave, ResearchPoint, WealthX and FoundationSearch to conduct analysis and assist with prospecting.
  • Review a variety of news resources and internal reports to identify new prospects, as well as to update information on existing prospects and donors.
  • Contribute to the improvement of processes and procedures for Prospect Development.
  • Evaluate and effectively communicate with direct reports on individual performance, including but not limited to performance assessments, goal and objective results and achievements, and professional development.
  • Regularly meet with and review the work of direct reports and provide leadership through coaching and one-on-one meetings with staff encouraging professional development and growth.
  • Participate in all advancement research activities, including, but not limited to, briefings for major events, profiles, and requests for specific information related to advancement projects.
  • Undertake special projects and duties as directed.
Collaborate with Key Internal Partners
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Department and Territory and Region Advancement Directors to identify prospects for major gift portfolios.
  • Partner with Systems and Insights team within the Donor Engagement Department to establish workflow for collaboration and tracking of KPIs and fundraising actuals within CRM.
  • Develop an awareness of communications calendars and strategies driven by Direct to Constituent and Constituent Experience.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Leadership team to develop workflows that support revenue goals.
Management
  • Manages the Prospect Research Specialist team
  • Serves in an influencer capacity to collaborate with Territory and Region colleagues in highly matrixed environment.
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Ability to work professionally and efficiently in a virtual environment.
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in prospect research, prospect management and/or prospect development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Experience working in a CRM system. Specific knowledge of Salesforce preferred.
  • Ability to determine capacity ratings for prospects/donors.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to identify and correct data inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of the Donor Engagement team.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and monitor multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under time constraints.
  • Competency in problem solving and navigating a complex working environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, written, and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present information and ideas in a group setting.
  • High level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgement and discretion.
  • Dedication to professional development for themselves and the team.
  • Keep current on research and fundraising trends through regular contact with development and research colleagues at peer institutions as well as vendors.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Minimal weekend & evening work required dependent on projects overseeing
  • Minimal travel based on related projects and department meetings

  • LLS has a 35-hour work week
  • This is a Non-Exempt, hourly paid role. The average salary (hourly) range is $47,000 ($26/hour) - $68,000 ($37/hour), open to further discussion based on geography.
