The Construction Education Foundation (CEF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a strong and sustainable construction workforce in Colorado. Founded in 1999, CEF creates innovative educational pathways and training programs to prepare students and adults for successful careers in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Vision

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement CEF’s strategic plan to fulfill the organization's mission and goals. Ensure alignment with the broader construction industry needs and trends.
  • Vision Setting: Articulate and drive the vision of empowering high school students with the skills and opportunities necessary to thrive in the construction industry.

Program Development and Management

  • Program Oversight: Supervision and evaluation of all CEF programs, including Careers in Construction (CIC) and the OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC).
  • Expansion Initiatives: Lead efforts working closely with the Dir. Of Operations to expand the CIC program to additional high schools via the Opportunity Now grant and develop new opportunities aligning with the CEF mission and vision.

Financial/Facilities Management and Fundraising/Grant Management

  • Budget Management: Working with the Board of Directors and the Dir. of Operations to develop and manage the organization’s budget, ensuring financial stability and growth. Oversee financial planning, reporting, auditing, and facilities management, including tenants and building manager.
  • Fundraising Strategy: Create and execute a sustainable funding plan, including diversified revenue streams, grant acquisition (working with a third-party contractor or future donor development role), corporate partnerships, and individual donor campaigns.
  • Grant Management: Oversee the hiring and management of a future grant manager role and work closely with the grant writer/compliance consultant to maximize grant opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships

  • Industry Collaboration: Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, government entities, and public and private supporters to strengthen CEF’s workforce pipeline and program impact.
  • Board Liaison: Function as the primary liaison between the CEF board of directors and the staff. Facilitate effective communication, collaboration, and decision-making.
  • External Relations: Represent CEF at industry events, conferences, and meetings. Promote CEF’s mission and programs through public speaking, networking, and media engagements.

Communications

  • Public Relations: Enhance CEF’s public profile managing effective communication strategies and implementing with the CEF team.
  • Stakeholder Reports: Prepare and present detailed reports on program progress, financial status, and strategic initiatives to stakeholders, including the board of directors and funders.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Team Management: Oversee and lead a team of eight staff members, with two direct reports, to foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Working closely with the Dir. of Operations, lead, mentor, and develop the CEF staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment. Oversee recruitment, training, the performance evaluation process, and succession planning.
  • Professional Development: Invest in staff training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills, knowledge, and career growth within the organization.

Program Evaluation and Improvement

  • Performance Metrics: Working with the Dir. of Operations, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess program effectiveness and organizational impact.

Safety and Compliance

  • Safety Programs: Oversee the OSHA Training Institute Education Center, budget, and its Program Director, ensuring it provides essential safety resources and training to meet industry standards and regulations while maintaining fiscal sustainability.
  • Compliance: Ensure CEF’s programs and operations comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards, maintaining elevated levels of integrity and accountability.

Community and Economic Development

  • Economic Empowerment: Empower individuals with essential skills and certifications to contribute to the long-term sustainability and growth of the state and construction industry, enhancing their employability.
  • · Community Impact: Foster personal and professional growth among program participants, preparing them for successful careers and active contributions to their communities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A minimum of five years of directly related experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience, including building and leading high-performing teams is required. Experience managing large project or program teams will be considered.

Preferred:

  • Degree or recognized credential in non-profit management, leadership, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing donor development strategies
  • Demonstrated fundraising (individual, private sector, philanthropy), including grant sourcing and acquisition
  • Experience or exposure working in, or with, the skilled trades and construction industry
  • Experience developing and managing large budgets
  • Experience working with a board

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary: $125,000 - $150,000 commensurate with experience
  • Performance-Based Bonus: Eligible for performance-based bonus

Location: This position is based in our Denver, Colorado office and requires on-site presence.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
