Position Description: As a Senior Human Resources Generalistyou work closely with the Chief People Officer, Finance and other business units across the organization. You will serve as a key partner in driving the success of our organization through effective human resource strategies. This role is responsible for managing a wide range of HR functions, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, payroll and benefits administration, and compliance. You will collaborate closely with leadership and employees to create a positive, productive work environment while ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and legal requirements. In addition to being a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of HR best practices, you have a passion for fostering employee engagement and development.

The Human Resources Generalist reports directly to the Chief People Officer and has no direct reports.

Salary: $60,000 - $85,000

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

What You’ll Do:

With your experience, you can see the bigger picture and anticipate the various effects of changes on the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Talent Acquisition: Screens resumes, conducts phone interviews, and collaborates with departmental managers to hire qualified candidates based on required skills and competencies.
  • Employee Onboarding: Facilitates new hire orientation, background checks, and verifies employee eligibility.
  • Payroll & Benefits Administration: Executes bi-weekly payroll for multiple sites, audits payroll data, and manages HR programs like compensation, FMLA, ADA, and benefits.
  • Employee Relations: Addresses employment-related inquiries, assists with performance evaluations, and handles disciplinary matters, investigations, and terminations.
  • HR Compliance: Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and reviews policies for compliance. Maintains confidentiality of personnel files and medical records.
  • Training & Development: Manages and tracks compliance with mandatory and optional employee training, including safety and professional development.
  • HR Technology & Data: Oversees HRIS employment actions and maintains accurate documentation of employee records and company-wide training programs.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Keeps up to date with trends and changes in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Additional tasks may include supporting departmental projects, advising managers, and contributing to the continuous improvement of HR practices.

What it Takes:

· Education/Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field. 5+ years’ experience in a generalist HR role, with a deep understanding of various HR disciplines (recruiting, employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management).

· Certification: Active SHRM (CP or SCP) or HRIC (PHR or SPHR) certification

· Technical Skills: Advanced Excel knowledge and daily use. Demonstrated ability to create, develop and manage programs.

· Strong Knowledge of and experience with: employment laws including FMLA, ADA, EEO and FLSA, federal HR reporting and audits, workers compensation/300 reporting and auditing, analyzing data, facilitation and project management.

· Ability to: maintain confidentiality, get along with others, give and receive feedback, analyze and grasp information quickly, accept responsibility, organize and plan projects, achieve goals, assess needs, evaluate risk, use available resources and partnerships to solve problems, champion organizational change, advocate for the business, and work independently and as a team member.

· Skills in: strategic agility, organizational mindset, auditing data and maintaining database accuracy, motivating, coaching and developing others, listening, consulting, explaining, analyzing, communicating effectively (written and verbally across a diverse spectrum), making decisions, thinking critically, solving complex problems, reporting progress, and deescalating situations with team members or customers.

  • Experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements

Mental and Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving boxes. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving a personal vehicle to visit other Dare to Care locations and attending events, such as a valid driver's license.
